this time at Central, the new mall in town, dining right beside the river, albeit with glass in between and people toothis one is Pasta de Waraku Japanese casual dining serving unbelievable arrays of pasta the display outside and inside, very cool, the arrays of different pasta they served, see the black one, thats the squid pasta ![]() the river outside its the SINGAPORE river btw ![]() and our food MrK ordered the bacon and ommellete pasta with creamy sauce ![]() I ordered the pasta de vongolle with special Jap sauce (called wayu or sth) ![]() Our mini salad (served t every diner? or is it every pasta? no idea but it tasted OK) ![]() Labels: anniversary dinner, restaurant review Friday, September 14, 2007
HK Kim Gary Rest at Vivocity •
Ok I have been neglecting this blog again and photos come from my pathetic 2MP Dopod phone but I am too lazy to lug around my cam nowadays and since my HD crash, I have no photoshop to remove some pte detailsso here goes another restaurant review, hope all of u are not bored bout this ok here goes HK KIm Gary Rest I visited the one at Vivo, the one opp Nike bags, talking bout Nike bags...uurh they are getting uber expensive, one bag can go to 100++++++++ bucks now, notice the no of plus signs i put anyway here goes This is Kim Gary, some famous young funky hip chef ![]() and here is what we ordered ![]() Cheese baked rice ![]() Lamb chop ![]() The TOAst ![]() The drinks (served in retro cups) one longan and one lychee with aloe vera ![]() the decor and the crowd (young, boisterous ones) Overall verdict: 2/5 food is not so nice, only the toast is worth mentioning and since this is not a popular blog, I dont think it is going to affect ppl's livelihood rite...it is still gonna be as crowded as ever ok enuff said Labels: restaurant review Wednesday, August 29, 2007
Rolling Wok •
![]() This restaurant/cafe is located at 29 Heng Mui Keng Terrace, Singapore its called Rolling Wok, serves mainly Asian food. Due to its affordability and location, we visited this place quite often , around once a week. I have tried almost everything on the menu, from the soup, to the dishes and main courses here are some pictures ![]() the drinks, they all sounded wonderful but taste wise its just so-so ![]() the soup, chicken broth with crab meat, this is really good I would give it 8/10, the crab meat is real, not those kana (the red rolled crabmeat) and the broth is good so overall this is really a must try ![]() the curry chicken is MrK's favourite, together with the fried mantou, is absolutely a must order from him desserts are also served but they are only OK, not that wonderful given that we know of this place because some friends recommend its desserts, I would suggest u skip dessert here other main course highlights ![]() cha siew noodles, but they called it something else, basically I have tried everything that has a recommendation sign beside it, including the chicken roll porridge and the chicken rice ![]() i think this is the homemadetofu with mushroom, another wonderful dish, i will give it a 7.5/10 ![]() this is the three cup chicken treasures, which is basically chicken cooked in 3 spices or sth like that, just a normal dish, not that wonderful ![]() the pic of the chicken rice,it is really good, enough said i think :P anyway the only gripe about this place is its location, it is just besides the halls or residences of NUS, but walking distance to the nearest bus stop makes u feel like eating again, that said it is best reached by car or bike. overall I would rate the food and service at 7/10 Labels: restaurant review Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Eastern Dragon Restaurant near Holiday Plaza, JB •
Ok I better be a good blogger and not be lazy anymore, time to clear all my picsThis restaurant is located across the Causeway in JB, I dont have the exact address but its located just across the road from Holiday Plaza in Johor Bahru Its quite a big restaurant and I think its quite established judging from the huge sharksfin and lobsters on display as well as the prices and the crowd here is the table settings ![]() and the surroundings filled with old cabinets and aquarium cramped with huge lobsters and sharksfin Our orders, ![]() On the left, prawns cooked with herbs and chilli, one of their signature dish and I love it, well basically I love prawns and this amateur blogger can only say that the prawns are well cooked and fresh, someone wanna sponsor me a prawn buffet so that I have more vocabulary to describe prawns :P in the Middle is the tofu dish, well whenever I ate out with MrK, the dishes we ordered will be one main (meat/seafood) dish, one vege dish and one tofu dish. The tofu is the silky kind that MrK like, Mom called it Japanese Tofu and it is cooked with gambas (I dunno the english word yet) but this green veg has jelly like fluid inside and it is soft like jelly as well, anyone wanna enlighten me? and black fungus. Overall it is another good dish, because I like all the ingredients and they are cooked well. Last is the fish, I forgot what kind of fish but I remember it being very soft fresh and it is cooked in sweet sour sauce which is just nice and I love the fish alot, so does MrK and this dish is the most expensive dish This is the vege dish, very smooth and good and fresh, needless to say we finish all of it This is our rice, when eating out, it is a habit of MrK not to order normal white rice, he always wanted to try other rice on offer, usually he will go with the fried rice, MrK's fave dish. but other times such as this 'Still in CNY mood' period he goes with this glutinous rice which he said will only be available during this CNY kind period. The rice itself is not bad, but to me its just so-so and nothing special The bill was ard 120 RM so its around $50, quite good considering the 5 dishes plus chinese tea. Overall I would rate the restaurant 3.5/5 -1 point for displaying such blatant act of crime to animal rights by having huge sharks fin -.5 point for its location in JB, too far for us to eat often, food wise its quite perfect too bad we didnt get to try the suckling pig Labels: restaurant review Wednesday, May 16, 2007
Ajisen •
but updating on restaurant picsfirst up is AJISEN ramen well the ramen as always is good the ton Toro ramen is good and the crayfish ramen is not bad but the IMM outlet is also a dessert house and it is a fantastic place to sample some japanese dessert. first up is my order the akamatsu, consist of macha (green tea) ice cream and its supposedly full of fibers...in the form of konyaku jelly, a very nice and refreshing as well as quite filling treat, but it is 6.80 MrK ordered the akamatsu plus plus at 8.80 but the cornflakes on the left bowl with the macha ice cream is nothing special so does the white balls called dango, it tasted just like pure flour, nothing to shout about at all a picture of the menu colourfull and nice eh? lol Labels: restaurant review Wednesday, May 02, 2007
Think Tofu at Bukit Timah Shopping centre •
this place is serving all kinds of tofu dishes with reasonable prices , everything at 5.50 , nice drinks and some good desserts too some pics ![]() Clockwise from left: Mushroom with some veggie tofu, prawn salad, tofu topped with prawns and tofu with cereals (this one is spicy) ![]() from left: our drinks: water and some lemongrass juice, dessert, beancurd with ginger sauce and longan almond pudding I just went back again recently (this place is rather good and ingredients they use are fresh and I heard the tofu is handmade too thus the repeat visit) and tried their soups, they are very good and fresh, topped with lots of ingredients, overall I would rate the place 8/10 -1 for the lack of service but they dont charge service charge anyway -1 for the nice food but not that perfect Labels: restaurant review Friday, April 27, 2007
Updates updates •
Update on me:still in exam period so nothing yet Update on MrK's Taiwan trip He went to Taiwan on 17 April, on SQ, well SQ is always nice so nothing to review, First he went to JiLong, some website mention it as KeeLung, argh I cant write in Chinese so sorry. Sightseeing and the famous night market near his hotel, the Keelung Horizon Hotel He said the hotel is very near the famous nite market, just 5 mins walk, with nice food all of it is food I reckoned from the video. There is also a fashion street nearby but knowing him, nothing is for me so I cant review on the quality of food here. Next he went to WuLai, wulai is a springs city, it has cold spring and hot spring, the hotel he stayed in is memorable with waterfalls just nearby, but I think in such a scenic city, you can just choose any hotel. he bought eggs for me (cooked using the cold spring water so it is cold), it is soft on the inside (the yolk part) it's almost runny but its not, so it is like jelly. It's a nice after-dinner snack I feel and some ceramic bowl that he got for eating beancurd, he said the beancurd is very nice. Taiwan is a nice place, but since I didnt go myself I shall not elaborate too much Next up: Kuching trip, anyone has any recommendation on this place? I really DOnt know what to do in this place but if i have the chance I wanna do Kuching Kayaking be back to upload pictures on my Korea n Japan trip plus MrK's TW trip next time I dunno when Food restaurants update I dont have the pictures and have not been eating out at restaurants too much either Tung Lok Signatures at Vivocity Level 1 6 people ordering their top dishes, final bill $1200 but the meal was good overall, but I feel not worth the price oh they lend u nice shawl to keep out the cold funny singapore dont u think?? In the west People take out their jacket, shawls and scarfs when eating, over here...hmm Labels: blabber, restaurant review Friday, April 06, 2007
4th Anniversary dinner at Olive Ristorante @Labrador Park •
Its our 4th year together so we decided to celebrate with a nice dinner with no budget and I choose Olive Ristorante for its 'romantic' ambience I didnt know it is al fresco but it wasnt hot nor full of insect despite labrador park looming behind. It is a friendly and romantic place just the way I hope it to be Looking at the menu, MrK was quite shocked at the prices (quite ex) but I said I liked the place so we ordered anyway ![]() Left and Middle; Ambience Pic (sorry its very blur I didnt want to use flash but my hand is not stable enough) Right: our drink : Explorer summer dream (sweet and nice just right) I like this drink Our appetiser: Labrador Seafood Platter : raw salmon with caviar on the right, it is very sweet and nice. On the left: Scallop with fresh prawn (cooked) and the unique sauce in the middle its 16 bucks but quite worth it Their signature pizza (Al Prosctutto) We add pineapple to it because MrK cant eat pizza without pineapple. Very crispy and smooth (thin crusts) just like the one i had in italy. Very nice My main course Linguine Scampi. Erm Very nice but expensive (I can eat the same thing for less at Basil alcove) but the prawns and olive oil were very fresh Our dessert ( From Left to right: Warm Choco Cake (very nice with just the right amt much better than the huge serving served at Bakerzin ) PanaCotta (this Italian cream dessert is done quite well but I cant compare with any other thing because I seldom take PanaCotta.) Pear ( Pear is very nice I love it but so little huh? ) the last one is Tiramisu (of course I love tiramisu but the small serving puts me off) Total Damage :114.20 actually we were charged just 40++ dollars but MrK ever the Kaypoh man looked at the bill and saw that we were charged just for the dessert and drink after this we went up and enjoy the night scenery Lack of updates bcos of examssss arrghh someone save me pls Labels: anniversary dinner, restaurant review Thursday, February 22, 2007
Banoo at Mohammed Sultan •
another inspiration eatery taken from THIS blogBanoo is a Persian Restaurant( yeah its the country that has NUKES) but food here is rather interesting and good though the spices take sometime getting used to As recommended, Mr K and I order the Lamb Kabideh each. and Mind you, Pics can be deceiving and I didnt know the real life portion of this. I tell you its huge, even if you r very hungry, order just one. this is the Lamb Kabideh, the rice is hard but nice, the yellow 'bread' is not nice at all. the Lamb is soft and tasty. U all should try it one day ...a chance to try Iran food without risking life =) but Mr K and I are greedy ppl, not just the kabideh, we also tried the LAMB stew Very nice too but the rice is weird ...but the lamb is super soft and tasty This is the chilli they served, very very nice Mr K and I love desserts and this dessert is especially refreshing with hints of cinnamon, and jasmine. Its actually rice pudding if I dont remember wrongly. I forgot what is the Persian name of this but u can ask the helpful lady owner and her waiters. overall a good dinner with reasonable prices, my only gripe is that Mohammed Sultan's lack of parking space. We had to walk quite far (park opposite Dbl 0) and maybe next time we will check out the other eatery along the road. Late that nite, Mr K went to eat again at Tong Shui HK Cafe, which sucks like HELL (maybe we r too full) but saw some good dessert pics ( the D24 durian HK toast) and I ordered the 8 Treasures tea which taste like normal tea and the almond cream with tang yuen is so normal WOnder if they pay those reviewers to write nice reviews for them Labels: restaurant review I am turning this to a FOOD blog •
![]() First Up the new 24 hrs Buffet restaurant Carousel I visited it at ard midnite and left at around 2 am plus. I ate their supper buffet. The cheapest among all their buffet at $19.50 ++ per pax. They have other kinds of buffet such as the breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and lastly supper. I heard good reviews regarding their dinner buffet. But I was informed that it is a 24-hr restaurant and therefore I thought I would be able to sample their dinner buffet with fresh oyster and many other live cooking stalls Alas, they only have the supper buffet, which is a tad disappointing First up they have the cooked food such as Hokkien mee, Stingray (I like it) even though its been in the warmer like forever, carrot cake, szechuan chix. basically all the dishes. (about 10 of them) and then there is the porridge bar (with many different kinds of condiment) the small dimsum( it sucks) area and some duck meat to go with the porridge i presume there is a small salad and cheese bar too, 2 types of 'live' cooking (not exactly live cos the stuff are pre-cooked but served by the chef, I think they do omelletes too) which is mee siam and satay (both are just OK) There is the Dessert area which i like (the cakes are good so is the hot dessert and fruits) the SArawak pineapple is great, so is watermelon and the chng tng and kue kue here is some pics, the sambal squid, tofu (both are quite good) the hokkien mee and sth else the dimsums ( the har gaos and sth else was eaten alrd) I didnt take pics of the dessert though...well cakes n fruits looks the same dont they...the buffet doesnt offer any fancy cakes anyway the art exhibition outside the restaurant, they have many such interesting colours and art in display I like it the place is really nicely done but asked whether i will go back? ...No i wont ..oh well maybe next time to try their more 'proper' buffet such as their dinner buffet. but then again, I hate buffets, make me fat and some of the food not proffesionally done. I'll settle for restaurant food anytime. Well degustation menu will be good. but Mr.K always hate to settle for such set menus More coming Labels: restaurant review Friday, January 26, 2007
